Excursion à Kairouan et El Jem
Enjoy a one-day trip to Kairouan and El Jem with transport, tours of historic sites, craft demos, and tasty local treats.
Get ready for an awesome day trip exploring the holy city of Kairouan and the ancient Roman vibes of El Djem! We’ll start by picking you up right from your hotel, then head straight to Kairouan. First up, check out the Aghlabid Basins - these massive pools are part of the city’s old-school water system and make for some great photos. Next, we’ll visit the peaceful Zaouia Sidi Sahbi, a beautiful mausoleum with amazing architecture and a calm, spiritual feel. You’ll get to see a traditional carpet workshop in action and watch how those famous Kairouan carpets are made. Plus, you’ll sample makroudh (a delicious local pastry) with some green tea. There’s even some free time for souvenir shopping if you want to grab something special. We’ll also stop by Bir Barrouta, a legendary well that’s perfect for snapping a few pics. Of course, we can’t miss the Great Mosque of Kairouan - it’s one of the most important Islamic landmarks in North Africa and the architecture is seriously impressive. Take some free time to wander the Medina, explore the winding streets, and check out the bustling souks. After a lunch break (you can pick any restaurant you like), we’ll hit the road to El Djem. Here, you’ll get a guided tour of the epic Amphitheatre of El Djem, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s packed with Roman history. We’ll also visit the El Djem Archaeological Museum, famous for its stunning Roman mosaics. To top it all off, you’ll see a local artisan show how traditional mosaics are made, and if possible, you can even try your hand at it! After an unforgettable day filled with culture, history, and hands-on experiences, we’ll drop you back at your hotel in the late afternoon. Get ready to make some amazing memories in Tunisia!
